WhatsApp New Features: How to Use WhatsApp New Features 2022

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta who is the owner of Whatsapp doles out the Latest Whatsapp new features for their teeming users across the world. This article will familiarize you with what is new with the instant messaging app today.

From what we gathered the new privacy features will make you enjoy the app even better as it comes with more functionality.

What are the new features in WhatsApp? What is the new WhatsApp Update 2022?

Whatsapp new features

Meta greeted us with an announcement of new privacy features for users of the WhatsApp messaging app. Now with your app, you can do the following:

1. Ability to leave group chats silently without being noticed:

What is currently obtainable is that the app alerts all group members once someone leaves or is removed. Members will be notified that someone has left the group or that someone was removed, this happens by default but with what we hear from Mark’s team this will become a thing of the past.

Earlier you have ways to disable notifications from individual group chats but the option to exit silently wasn’t there, because of this exiting some groups can cause embarrassment, awkwardness, and some form of drama, for example, people can misunderstand you when you exit religious and political groups or some frat assemblies.

The good news is that with these recent changes users can leave unnoticed,  other members of the group chat don’t have to know you left except the group admins.

While speaking on the development, the product head, Ami Vora said the platform is focusing on "building product features that will enable people to have more privacy and control with their messages".

According to Ami, WhatsApp will be the most secure place for private conversations.

She said other global messaging service providers lack this level of security for users' media, messages, voice messages, Chat backups, and video calls.

2. Limit who sees you online:

The new update will afford users the option to permit only some select contacts - or no one - to view your active status on the platform, previous what we had was the ability to hide last seen but not online status.

The ability to do this is a nice way to give users more control as they use the platform. This new feature will prevent people from monitoring and evading your privacy, family, friends and even enemies don’t have to see when you are online by having your number saved on their phones.

This puts your online status in your hands 100%, you can select whether to let everyone see your online status or exclude some persons.

3. Disable screenshots on “View Once” messages.

This new privacy feature is currently being tested; it is a screenshot blocking update that will be available to users soon. The sender can choose to protect the picture they send and make it impossible for the receiver to screenshot it. This follows the prior “view more” feature which was previously rolled out by the Whatsapp team.

The "view once" feature, allows users the ability to make photos disappear once the receiver opens it, this update has been there for up to a year now.

This screenshot blocking update is an addition to the "view once" feature, meaning you can completely prevent the photos you send from getting in the wrong hands, since screenshots aren’t possible receivers can’t have a permanent record of your photos especially if they are specified as “view once”.

Benefits of WhatsApp's new features 2022

Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive boss said these measures would help keep Whats App messaging more secure and private just like face-to-face conversations as it offers more protection, control, and privacy.

According to him, Whats App has a DNA of privacy that won’t stop building until newer better ways of protecting personal conversations are achieved.

They hope to achieve calls and messages that are always private and secure just the way two people will talk if they are alone.

The default end-to-end encryption which is built into WhatsApp making sure messages and personal calls of users get to only receivers without external intrusion is good but not enough to maintain maximum privacy which is why the team keeps innovating and proffering newer solutions.

We all want our messages to get to the intended recipients only and will love to stick with any app that protects our privacy which is what Whatsapp is trying to achieve.

In the past years, the team has added many things to the table in terms of privacy protections, users have a number of ways to secure messages, for example, self-destruction or the ability to make messages disappear, end-to-end encryption with backups for saving chat history, ability to report and block spam chats and 2-step factor verification for maximum security.

The team is excited to add these new WhatsApp features to the several new privacy features adding more layers of user protection and more control for messages guaranteeing a more secure conversation at all times.
